Lactation consultant education that fits your goals
Everyone who sits for the IBCLC exam must complete lactation-specific and health sciences education requirements. No matter your professional background, LER has what you need to fulfill your requirements in both areas.
Lactation-Specific Education
To apply to take the IBCLC exam, you must complete:
- 90 hours of lactation-specific education
- 5 hours of education focused on communication skills
- 2 hours of education focused on the WHO Code
Whether you need to fulfill part or all of the lactation-specific education requirement, LER has a course to meet your needs.
Health Sciences
Education
IBCLC exam applicants must complete:
- 14 health science subjects
- 8 must be completed at an accredited college or university; 5 may be taken as continuing education
Note: If you are educated as a Recognized Health Professional, you have already fulfilled this requirement.
